A great second-hand find can become complicated when the seller says “collection only”. A washing machine may be too heavy for your car, a sofa may need two people, or an eBay seller may live on the other side of the country. Tell Adrian what you have bought and where it needs to go, and we can discuss a practical collection plan.
Facebook Marketplace collections
Arrange pickup of a sofa, bed, fridge or other bulky purchase from a private seller. Send a screenshot or listing link, measurements and the seller’s available collection times.
Gumtree collection & delivery
Found furniture or an appliance on Gumtree? We can collect from the agreed address and deliver to your home, student accommodation or business, subject to access and availability.
eBay “collection only” transport
Ask for a transport quote before bidding on a bulky item. Once you have agreed the purchase, arrange the collection with the seller and let Adrian know any pickup requirements.
One item is enough to book a van
You do not need a full house move. Our single-item collection service is suitable for everyday purchases and selected larger items, with the van and level of help agreed before booking.

Fridges, washing machines & appliances
- Fridges, freezers and fridge freezers.
- Washing machines and tumble dryers.
- Other household appliances, assessed individually.
Appliances should be empty, disconnected and ready to move. Washing machines should be drained and prepared according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Tell us about stairs, narrow doors and any unusually heavy equipment before booking.
Large commercial refrigeration needs a separate assessment of weight, dimensions, access and handling requirements.
A collection I still remember: the commercial fridge
“Around July 2026, I took on one of the most demanding collections I have completed: moving a large commercial fridge from a Tesco Express store in Solihull to a Sainsbury’s store in Wolverhampton.
Five of us were involved in loading and unloading it by hand. It was a very heavy, physically demanding job and far beyond a normal household fridge collection. It took a real team effort to complete the move.
It is not the sort of job I take on every day, but it remains one of the bigger moves I am proud to have completed successfully.”

How to arrange your collection
Send the details
Share the listing, item photos, dimensions, collection and delivery postcodes, floor levels and any stairs. Include the seller’s available dates.
Agree your quote
The price depends on the route, size, weight, access and moving help required. Confirm these details before committing to a collection time with the seller.
Confirm & prepare
Once arrangements are agreed, pay the booking deposit to confirm. Have the item ready and the access clear at both addresses.
Please agree the item’s condition and payment directly with the seller. Our quote covers the collection and transport arrangements agreed with you.
Single-item collections across England
Found a piece of furniture outside the West Midlands? Ask Adrian about long-distance single-item collections across England. Share the two postcodes and your delivery timeframe so we can discuss the available options.
For suitable flexible deliveries, Adrian also works with three multi-drop transport companies and can recommend an option. If another company would carry out the delivery, you will be told before making arrangements.
Have something useful to give away?
Alongside paid collection and delivery, we may be able to collect selected unwanted furniture and working appliances free of charge for reuse. This can include suitable beds, clean mattresses, furniture, fridges and washing machines.
Free collection is subject to condition, suitability, location and availability. Send photos first so Adrian can confirm whether your item can be accepted. A free item bought or obtained online does not automatically qualify for free delivery to your home.

Collection questions, answered
Can you collect if I cannot be at the seller’s address?
Yes, subject to arrangements agreed in advance. Make sure the seller knows who is collecting, that the item is ready, and that any purchase or collection requirements have been dealt with.
How much does a Marketplace, Gumtree or eBay collection cost?
There is no single price for every item. Send the listing, dimensions, both postcodes and access details for a quote that reflects the actual job.
Can you collect today?
Same-day collections may be possible depending on the route, vehicle availability and the seller’s availability. Call or WhatsApp Adrian to check.
Can you carry items upstairs?
Tell us the floor levels, stairs and item details before booking. We need to assess access and agree enough help for loading, carrying and unloading.
Can you collect a free sofa or washing machine from a seller?
Yes, we can quote to transport it. The seller giving an item away does not make the delivery free. Our separate free collection service is for selected reusable items accepted by Adrian.
Do you offer long-distance single-item delivery?
Yes, ask about collections across England. Depending on the route and timing, Adrian can discuss a direct delivery or recommend a suitable multi-drop company.
