Long Distance Man and Van from Birmingham
A long-distance move is very different from moving a sofa around the corner. You may be travelling hundreds of miles, changing university, relocating for work, moving your family to another part of the country, returning home after your studies or transporting valuable belongings between cities.
At Adrian Man and Van Birmingham, we have been helping customers since 2017. Over the years we have travelled from Birmingham to London, Manchester, Exeter, Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow and many other destinations. We have also undertaken international jobs involving France, the Netherlands and other European routes by arrangement.
We are based in the Birmingham and Halesowen area, but we are not limited to local removals. If your collection starts in Birmingham and finishes hundreds of miles away, or if you need us to travel out of the West Midlands to collect your belongings and bring them back, contact us.
Our service can be suitable for a single student with bags and boxes, a person relocating for work, a vulnerable customer requiring additional support, a full family move, furniture transport or an urgent last-minute long-distance removal.

Birmingham B5 to Glasgow – A Student Move in the Mercedes Vito
One long-distance job that shows exactly how flexible our service can be involved a student moving from central Birmingham to Glasgow.
The collection was in the B5 area of Birmingham. The student was moving personal belongings rather than a complete house, so our Mercedes Vito Extra Tourer was a practical choice. The vehicle has nine seats and useful rear loading space, which makes it suitable for selected smaller removals, students, luggage and personal belongings.
The accommodation was on the fourth floor. Fortunately, there was a lift, which made it possible to bring the student's bags, boxes and personal belongings down safely and load everything carefully into the Vito.
Central Birmingham can change quickly depending on roadworks, events, student activity and city-centre restrictions. On this particular move we had to adapt our route around the city centre rather than simply following the first route on the navigation system.
We worked our way through Birmingham, adapting around Digbeth and the city-centre road network and then continuing towards the motorway. Once out of Birmingham, the journey north became a proper long-distance run towards Scotland.
A Birmingham to Glasgow journey is normally a substantial drive, so we plan sensible breaks rather than rushing. On this move we stopped at a motorway service station, had a coffee, checked everything was secure and then continued north.
Depending on traffic and the exact addresses, the driving portion of a Birmingham to Glasgow journey is typically around five to six hours, before allowing for loading, unloading and rest stops. With a long-distance student move, the objective is not simply to arrive fast; it is to arrive safely, with the customer's belongings secure and the journey organised properly.
We reached Glasgow successfully, unloaded the student's bags, boxes and belongings and completed the relocation. Jobs like this are why we have a dedicated Student Man and Van website for university and student relocations.
Long Distance Student Removals Birmingham
Students are an important part of our long-distance moving service. University life often means moving much further than a few streets. Students arrive in Birmingham from all over the UK, and when the academic year finishes they may need to return home to London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh or another city.
A student rarely needs the same service as a three-bedroom house. Sometimes the entire move may consist of ten or twenty bags, several suitcases, boxes, a desk, a small fridge, a television, a mattress or personal furniture.
- University halls removals
- Shared student houses
- Private accommodation
- Bags, suitcases and boxes
- Desk and bedroom furniture
- Student moves to Scotland
- End-of-term relocations
- Last-minute student moves
Depending on the size of the move, we can choose the Mercedes Vito or our much larger Iveco Daily. This prevents a smaller student move from automatically requiring the largest vehicle.

Amsterdam to Sheffield – Long Distance European Removal
One of our most memorable international removals involved travelling to Amsterdam in the Netherlands and moving a customer back to Sheffield.
The customer worked as a chef and was also a very serious carp fishing enthusiast. When we arrived, it quickly became clear that this was not a normal collection of a few suitcases. There was a large quantity of fishing equipment, personal belongings and household items. Roughly half of the van was taken up by carp-fishing equipment alone.
For international work, planning matters even more than for a UK move. We needed to consider the road mileage, Channel crossing, timing, loading, breaks and the return journey.
We used the Channel crossing system in both directions, using the Channel Tunnel / LeShuttle route on one leg and a ferry crossing on the other. That meant travelling through the South East, crossing between England and France and then continuing through Belgium and into the Netherlands.
After collecting the customer's belongings in Amsterdam, everything had to be packed and positioned so that fishing equipment and personal possessions could travel safely over hundreds of miles.
We then travelled back towards the UK and ultimately delivered the customer's belongings to Sheffield. The complete job involved roughly a day and a half of travelling and work.
The price for that particular international removal was £1,600. That figure should not be treated as a standard price for every European move because international jobs vary considerably according to distance, vehicle, crossing costs, tolls, fuel, access, timing and the amount being transported.
What the job demonstrates is that Adrian Man and Van is not restricted to Birmingham postcodes. When arranged correctly, we can discuss long-distance European removals and collections as well as UK-wide moves.
Calais to Wolverhampton – Emergency Collection After a BMW Accident
Another unusual long-distance job started with an urgent request involving a customer in Calais, France.
The person's BMW had been involved in an accident and there was a large quantity of personal luggage and belongings that still needed to come back to the West Midlands. The load included bags, personal items, food and a significant number of jars and other belongings that were difficult to manage without proper transport.
We travelled across to France, collected the belongings and organised everything securely before returning to the UK and delivering them safely to Wolverhampton.
Situations like this are not a normal local removal. They require communication, timing and flexibility. When somebody has had an accident or has unexpectedly become stranded abroad, having a vehicle capable of collecting their belongings can solve a major practical problem.
European collections are considered individually and remain subject to availability, appropriate documentation, border requirements, crossing availability and the nature of the goods being transported.
European Man and Van Removals from Birmingham
Our main work is within Birmingham, the West Midlands and the UK, but European removals can also be discussed by arrangement.
Depending on the job, destination, border requirements and availability, routes may include:
International prices are calculated individually. Factors can include Channel Tunnel or ferry costs, road tolls, distance, overnight travel, vehicle requirements, loading time and the quantity of belongings.
UK-Wide Removals – Birmingham to Anywhere
Long-distance does not necessarily mean another country. A large part of our work involves moving customers between cities in England, Wales and Scotland.
We can collect from Birmingham and travel out, or collect elsewhere and bring your belongings into Birmingham and the West Midlands. Multi-stop routes can also be discussed where practical.
Two Vehicles for Different Types of Long-Distance Moves
Choosing the right vehicle matters. A student with luggage does not necessarily need the same van as a family moving an entire home.
Large 7-Metre Iveco Daily
Our large Iveco Daily is designed for substantial loads. It is suitable for house removals, furniture, beds, mattresses, appliances, numerous boxes, bags and bulky belongings.
It is often the preferred vehicle for full-house and larger long-distance removals.
Mercedes Vito Extra Tourer
Our 9-seat Mercedes Vito Extra Tourer is useful for smaller student moves, luggage and selected personal relocations where the capacity of the Iveco is unnecessary.
The Vito helped us complete the Birmingham-to-Glasgow student move described above.

Floors, lifts, stairs, parking and walking distance all matter.
We calculate your move based on the actual requirements.
How Much Does a Long-Distance Man and Van Cost?
There is no single long-distance price because a move to London with five bags is completely different from moving a three-bedroom house to Scotland.
The quote may depend on:
- Total mileage
- Vehicle required
- Volume of belongings
- Number of movers
- Flights of stairs
- Lift availability
- Parking restrictions
- Heavy appliances
- Additional collection points
- Ferry or Channel crossing
- European tolls
- Timing and overnight travel
We quote each job individually rather than pretending that every customer has the same move. The best way to receive an accurate quote is to send clear details and photos.
