Man and Van Birmingham – Emergency Load Transfer, DVSA Stop Support & Removals
Need urgent transport help after a van has been stopped because of an overloaded load, a breakdown or another unexpected problem? Adrian Man and Van Birmingham provides independent emergency load-transfer and parcel-transfer assistance across Birmingham, the West Midlands and surrounding areas.
We can help transfer suitable goods from one vehicle to another, reduce the load carried by an overloaded van, complete onward deliveries and provide a replacement transport solution where appropriate.
Emergency Load Transfer After a DVSA Stop
Commercial vans can be stopped by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) or the police for roadside checks.
If a vehicle is found to be overloaded, the driver may not be allowed to continue until the problem has been dealt with. In practical terms, that can mean part of the load needs to be removed or transferred to another suitable vehicle before the original van can continue.
This is where we may be able to help. Our role is straightforward: we provide an independent van and transport service capable of collecting part of a suitable load and transporting it onwards.
We do not make decisions on behalf of DVSA and we cannot authorise a vehicle to continue its journey. The driver or operator must follow the instructions given by DVSA or the police. Our service is simply there to provide practical transport assistance when goods need to be removed or redistributed.
⚠️ Important – Independent Service
Adrian Man and Van is an independent removal and transport business. We are not affiliated with, employed by or acting on behalf of DVSA. Any driver stopped by DVSA must follow the instructions of the attending officers and remains responsible for vehicle weight, roadworthiness and legal compliance.
Emergency Transport Services We Can Help With
Overload Load Transfer
Transfer suitable goods from an overloaded vehicle into our van so the driver's situation can be resolved in accordance with the instructions they have been given.
Parcel Transfer
Boxes, parcels and commercial goods can be transferred between vehicles and transported to their onward destinations.
Multi-Drop Delivery
Where suitable, we can take part of a commercial load and complete multiple onward deliveries to different locations.
Breakdown Load Transfer
If a vehicle cannot continue because of a breakdown, we may be able to transfer suitable contents into our vehicle and continue the transport.
Urgent & Last-Minute Transport
When availability allows, we can respond to urgent transport enquiries where a vehicle or delivery operation has been disrupted.
Regular Removals
We also provide normal house, flat, student, furniture and long-distance removals throughout Birmingham and the UK.
An Overloaded Van, DVSA Stop and Multi-Drop Delivery
Our experience with overloaded vehicles is not purely theoretical. We have dealt with this type of situation ourselves in the past, which taught us very quickly how important vehicle weights, load distribution and basic vehicle checks are when working commercially.
More recently, we received an urgent call regarding another van that had been stopped while carrying a substantial commercial load. The vehicle was heavily loaded and part of the cargo needed to be removed before the transport operation could continue.
We attended with our own van and transferred part of the load. Instead of simply taking the goods to one nearby storage location, the job required us to continue the transport and complete multiple deliveries to shops in Leicester and Tamworth.
That meant reorganising the cargo carefully, understanding which items were required at each destination and making sure the load we accepted into our own vehicle could be transported safely.
There was also an additional issue with one of the tyres on the original vehicle. It was underinflated. Because we carry a compressor as part of our practical equipment, it was available to assist with inflation while the transport situation was being resolved.
The timing made the job particularly important. It was close to the Easter period, so a long delay could have caused significant problems for the driver and the deliveries waiting for the goods. By transferring part of the cargo and taking responsibility for the onward deliveries assigned to us, the transport operation was able to move forward much more quickly.
Why Vehicle Weight Matters
Every van has a maximum permitted loaded weight. The total includes the vehicle itself together with the driver, passengers, fuel and everything being transported.
A van can look perfectly normal from the outside and still exceed its permitted weight. This is especially easy to underestimate with dense loads such as boxes of products, tools, building materials, commercial parcels or large quantities of household items.
The safest approach is to understand the permitted vehicle weight before loading and use a weighbridge if there is any doubt. Load distribution also matters because individual axle limits must not be exceeded.
Official information about van loading and weight limits can be found on GOV.UK – Driving a Van .
Our Large Iveco Daily for Load Transfers
One reason we can be useful for emergency transfer work is our large Iveco Daily panel van. The vehicle is approximately seven metres long and has around 2.2 metres of internal height.
This gives us substantial usable loading space for suitable commercial goods, parcels, household belongings and furniture. However, having a large van does not mean weight can be ignored. Our own vehicle must also remain within its permitted limits.
For that reason, when you contact us for a load transfer, it helps to provide as much information as possible about the contents, approximate weight, number of parcels and type of goods.
Parcel Transfer & Multi-Drop Delivery
Emergency transport is not limited to DVSA-related situations. A courier van may break down, a driver may become unavailable, or a company may suddenly need another vehicle to complete the remainder of a route.
Depending on availability and the type of goods, we can help with parcel transfer and multi-drop delivery.
This may include:
- Boxes and packaged goods
- Commercial parcels
- Retail stock
- Non-hazardous business goods
- Load transfer from a broken-down vehicle
- Multi-drop deliveries
- One-off emergency transport
- Long-distance onward delivery
When requesting commercial transport, tell us clearly what the goods are. We reserve the right to decline loads that are unsuitable, unsafe, hazardous, prohibited or beyond the legal capacity of our vehicle.
Breakdown Load Transfer
A breakdown can stop an entire delivery route even if the goods themselves are perfectly fine.
If a van becomes immobilised and the contents need to continue, we may be able to attend, load suitable goods into our vehicle and transport them either to a depot, another van or directly to the intended destination.
For urgent breakdown-related enquiries, send us the location of the vehicle, the destination, photographs of the load and an approximate description of how much vehicle space is required.
Emergency Man and Van Birmingham
Not every urgent job involves a commercial vehicle. Customers also contact us when a normal household move suddenly becomes urgent.
A tenancy may end unexpectedly, another removal company may cancel, a customer may need furniture collected immediately or a delivery may need to happen that same day.
Where our schedule allows, we can consider same-day and last-minute man and van jobs in Birmingham. Urgent availability changes throughout the day, so WhatsApp is usually the fastest way to send the complete job details.
House, Flat and Student Removals
Emergency transport is only one part of Adrian Man and Van. Our main work continues to include regular removals throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands.
- House removals
- Flat and apartment moves
- Student removals Birmingham
- Single-item transport
- Sofas, beds and furniture
- Appliance collections
- Office removals
- Storage moves
- Long-distance UK removals
- Marketplace and shop collections
Moving Equipment We Carry
Different jobs require different equipment. For normal removals and appropriate emergency transport jobs, our equipment can include:
- Professional moving trolley
- Furniture blankets
- Moving and securing straps
- Basic practical transport equipment
- Air compressor
Equipment availability does not replace the driver's responsibility to ensure their own vehicle is roadworthy. Mechanical defects should be dealt with appropriately before a vehicle is driven.
💙 Supporting Customers & Furniture Reuse
Alongside commercial and household work, we also try to help customers who may need additional patience or practical support, including older customers, families and people dealing with difficult circumstances.
We have also transported furniture connected with donation and reuse, helping suitable items find a second home rather than automatically becoming waste.
We are a removal and transport service rather than a licensed waste-clearance business, so we do not provide rubbish removal or tip runs.
Areas We Can Cover for Emergency Transport
Our base allows us to reach many locations throughout Birmingham, the Black Country and the wider West Midlands, depending on where we are working when the call comes in.
We can also provide onward transport outside the West Midlands. As demonstrated by our Leicester and Tamworth multi-drop job, the final delivery points do not need to be close to Birmingham.
